Summary: My family of 4 stayed at this apartment for almost 2 weeks during the World Cup. It's located in a great area and we felt very safe there throughout our trip. It's an easy walk (15-20 min) to Ipanema - beaches, restaurants, grocery stores, pharmacies. There's a nicely paved bike path/walking trail that goes all around the lake that we used to get to Ipanema, Copacobana and Leblon. It's also very easy to catch a cab out front of the apartment building, if you're going farther. While the owner lists only two bathrooms, there are actually three toilets, which comes in handy. The side of the building you're on is adjacent to a park, so you look right at jungle from your balcony - which also made it relatively quiet (no major traffic noise - just the usual neighborhood sounds). We loved watching the birds from the living room and balcony. The property is clean - there are no bugs, even though we left the balcony doors open whenever we were in the apartment. Since it was wintertime when we were there, we really didn't need the air conditioning, although there were units in every room. The owner had a friend who spoke English that lived a few floors down. He was able to help us when we had questions about the area. I would highly recommend this apartment to anyone coming to Rio.
